The Ultimate Modular Wall Furnishing Solution

Toprail is a revolutionary wall furnishing solution that offers unparalleled flexibility and easy reconfiguration - it is the ultimate wall furniture solution. The company is part of David Bailey Furniture Systems Ltd, a well-established British business with more than 40 years of experience in the fitted furniture industry.

The Toprail concept was developed by a team of engineers and designers tasked with creating a fitted furniture system that was both flexible and durable - and that could be easily reconfigured to meet the changing needs of a wide range of commercial organisations such as the healthcare sector, schools, offices and veterinary practices.

The team developed a modular design for the Toprail system which allowed for endless possibilities in terms of configuration. They used high-quality aluminium in the construction of the key Toprail component and the supporting uprights which make up the heart of the system. This ensures durability and strength to withstand even the most demanding environments. Equally as important, this Toprail matrix was now capable of supporting just about about any combination of storage units, shelving, worktops and more.

This meant that the Toprail system was able to offer a number of advantages over traditional wall systems, such as:

  • Flexibility: The Toprail system is incredibly flexible and can be configured to meet the specific needs of any business or organisation.
  • Easy reconfiguration: The Toprail system is easy to reconfigure, without the need for tools or skilled labour. This makes it ideal for businesses and organisations that need to be able to adapt their workspaces quickly and easily.
  • Durability: The Toprail system is built to last, with a robust construction that can withstand even the most demanding environments.
  • Sustainability: The Toprail system is made from sustainable materials and is designed to last, which reduces the need for frequent replacement.

Toprail can be used to create more efficient, productive and sustainable workspaces.

  • In a healthcare setting, the Toprail system can be used to create flexible and adaptable patient rooms and treatment areas. This can help to improve the efficiency of care delivery and reduce the time that patients spend in the hospital.
  • In a dynamic industry setting, Toprail provides agile and adaptable workspaces that can be quickly and easily changed to meet the changing needs of the business. This can help to improve productivity and innovation.
  • In a busy school, Toprail can be used to create flexible and versatile learning spaces that can be used for a variety of purposes, such as lectures, tutorials, and group work. This can help to maximise the use of space and improve the efficiency of teaching and learning.
  • In a thriving commercial space,  the Toprail system can create modern and stylish office spaces that can be easily reconfigured to meet the changing needs of the business. This can help to attract and retain top talent and create a productive and enjoyable work environment.

It means that Toprail is the perfect choice for those who are looking for a furniture system that is both flexible and durable, making it the ideal solution for any space, from the smallest office to the largest healthcare facility and much more.

History

Toprail consists of a horizontal aluminium rail screwed to the wall from which a range of furniture components simply hang, safely and securely and enable the user to change the layout at any time. The concept was developed in the early 1970s, specifically for use in the British National Health Service, where the demands to cope with constant change within the interiors of properties was both expensive and time consuming.

Timescale from design brief by the client to completion often results in numerous changes, either during construction or on completion, as medical advances dictate. Benefits of the Toprail system quickly spread to pharmaceutical companies and research centres of universities. Many universities now use Toprail extensively throughout many faculties, not only within the UK but many internationally.

We recognise that the Toprail product reflects the original image for clinical installations and since then we have developed a wide customer base across most markets.

Toprail Concept and Design

Retaining the very simple, but practical horizontal rail that ultimately provides the degree of flexibility, Toprail can offer our designers a product design that can be used in two distinct ways.

The first is similar to the existing range where product is supported from the slotted uprights or direct from the rail. In most cases the product therefore sits back against the wall face with the exception of some of the cupboard units and components.

The second option provides the ability to infill between the slotted uprights with decorative or contrasting panels up to 10mm thick, a combination of cupboard units and shelves all face fixed across the slotted uprights. This offers the opportunity to conceal cables or cover damaged walls without fuss and inexpensively.
